reflection on assessment task

Hello everyone! Welcome to my blog post. I am going to tell you about what I’ve been doing for English assessment. Its technology themed, so I picked video games as my topic. Since I’m not that into technology, I wrote a complete essay about video games vs. traditional games. I also wrote two partial essays, one is a research in video games and another one is a persuasive text on video gaming. The last task was visual or multimedia text, so I made an opinion poster discussing about the dangers of video games.

As I researched about video games and created piece by piece of writings, I discovered even further information about video games that I’ve never realized before, like how video games are so popular, and how they can bring much benefits but also bad effects, depending on the usage. I also developed my writing skills rapidly by learning how to edit texts, using different kinds of text types such as comparison, research, persuasive, and reaction texts. I feel most proud of my research essay, it’s about how education has been improved by video games, can you believe that? I’ve been stereotyping video games as dangerous and useless for so long, and now I realize that my bias was wrong.

Overall, I had fun doing my assessment task as I was challenged by many obstacles with word choice. Some words I chose were weird, like one time I used ‘decent’ to describe traditional games. Maam Karla then gave me an example, a ‘decent’ girl is a girl who doesn’t wear their shirt too tight or mini skirt too short, like opposite of ‘seducing’.  I laughed out loud when she told me that. Honestly, I have trouble finding my interest in the topic, because I have no interest in technology at all. Well, that’s it for now. See you around!
