Reflection Blog

After finishing assessment task 3, where we had to make a Visual text, a complete essay, two partial essays, and a blog, I have learned that there can be many types of academic writing. This assessment task really challenged me, as I have to be able to write five texts, but I enjoyed doing this because we were able to choose a topic about technology that interests us. I picked video games, because I enjoy playing video games and I want people to be able to understand more about video games. I did learn from my topic, that there are many types of video games, such as RTS (Real-Time Strategy), RPG (Role-Playing Games), FPS (First-Person Shooter), and many more. Also I have learned from my topic that there are positive effects of video games, even though many people could not notice it. From the academic writing I was able to learn new vocabularies and be able to find and edit my own work for grammar mistakes. The piece I am most proud of is my complete compare and contrast essay, because I do really know the two games I am comparing (Halo and Counter Strike) and I have played these two games and I knew a lot of things about these two games. I would be able to improve my writing by learning more vocabulary and grammar. One of the ways of improving our grammar and vocabulary is by reading books. Overall I now have learned how to make a good essay, new vocabularies, and finding and editing grammar mistakes, for the academic writing. For the topic I have chosen, I learned the types of video games and the positive effects of video games.
